chamomila-hipster

Chamomilla for teething is part of the the homeopathic first aid kit around the world. Seeing a dose or two of the homeopathic remedy Chamomilla change a fractious child into a calm child is something not soon forgotten. Teething symptoms fade and the pain lessens in such a smooth and simple way that Chamomilla for teething has earned a reputation worldwide. It is used successfully so often by parents and homeopaths that we can all be forgiven for thinking of it as a specific remedy for teething. Yet sometimes there are other teething remedies that may be more … [Read more...] about Chamomilla for teething. When to use it?

Homeopathy for Plants

11/11/2015 By Jacqui Harrison Leave a Comment

Last year a friend of mine travelled overseas for an extensive time and left with me her potted plants, including her orchid collection. She is what I term “The Orchid Whisperer”. Magnificent orchids of all varieties thrived and flowered throughout the year in her home. To say I was nervous was an understatement. My main experience with orchids was maintaining the life of cut orchids in the vase, which I achieved quite successfully. Time passed and the orchids were flowering beautifully, new growth even appeared! But one day I noticed black spots on the leaves … [Read more...] about Homeopathy for Plants

Homeopathy and true scepticism

04/09/2015 By Linlee Leave a Comment

two-women-arguing

I would like to invite my friends to exercise true scepticism when it comes to the topic of homeopathy. I hear you thinking “Huh? I thought you were annoyed with the sceptics?” Well, perhaps yes, but not in the way that you may surmise. Despite it being widely used around the world, Homeopathy is an alternative form of medicine which sceptics love to attack and make comments about. I admit that it’s mildly annoying when certain sceptics occupy themselves by making their witty anti-homeopathy statements. They seem to entertain themselves. But, it’s more than … [Read more...] about Homeopathy and true scepticism

Night Terrors and Homeopathy

night terrors

Sweet Dreams with Homeopathy Those parents who have witnessed their child go through night terrors know exactly how traumatic an experience it can be. You hear your child cry out in that chilling shriek; you rush in and turn on the light, knowing there’s not a lot you can do but try to bring them gradually out of their unreachable oblivion which seems to last forever. Then your child screams at something just over your left shoulder and you feel your skin prickle, wondering what on earth it is that your child can see, because the only thing you can see when … [Read more...] about Night Terrors and Homeopathy

Homeopathy for Impetigo

18/03/2015 By Linlee Leave a Comment

flower-goldensealgold

Impetigo is a contagious skin complaint known as 'school sores', which is caused by staphylococcus and/or streptococcus. It might start with tender red spots around the mouth which turn into little blisters which later go crusty. In our homeopathy clinic, it's a frequently asked question: Can we use homeopathy for impetigo? Since it's such a common complaint it's a relief to know that homeopathy is commonly used to treat it. Treatment should be started as soon as it's realised that the skin problem is impetigo. The first homeopathic remedies we … [Read more...] about Homeopathy for Impetigo

Homeopathy Kit in Hahndorf

15/03/2015 By Linlee Leave a Comment

remedies-from-hahndorf

A visit to the Adelaide Hills turned up an old homeopathy kit tucked away in the local Hahndorf museum. Hahndorf is a little town up in the Hills of Adelaide. No prizes for guessing that there's a strong German influence in this part of South Australia. It is acknowledged as Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement. The place is chock a block with wood carvings for tourists and strange varieties of sausage. But it is the buildings and the history which appeal to me, so I headed over to The Hahndorf museum. It has a fascinating display about the lives of … [Read more...] about Homeopathy Kit in Hahndorf

OK, so glue ear isn’t exactly the new black when it comes to sexy diseases. We have homeopathic heroes all around the world making huge waves doing things that are much more exciting, such as homeopath extraordinaire Jeremy Sherr traipsing the backwaters of Africa treating people with Malaria and AIDS. I recently attended a very inspiring conference where Jeremy told his amazing story. Then there’s homeopath Rajan Sankaran in India, who has devised a very fascinating and innovative method to treat people with all manner of emotional and spiritual issues. … [Read more...] about Making glue ear sexy with homeopathy

The History of Antibiotics Most of us would be aware of the life-saving effect antibiotics have had on literally millions of people since they were first manufactured on a wide scale in the 1940’s. It is a very recent discovery when you think about what the many previous generations would have used instead over the history of mankind. What many of us may not be aware of is that the word “antibiotic” can be applied to all kinds of different substances. In fact, Penicillin and many other conventional antibiotics are actually often derived from … [Read more...] about Could Homeopathy help avert the coming Antibiotic Resistance crisis?
