Importance of iron for our well-being

10/04/2025 By Sabina Vatter

Why do we need iron? Approximately 1.1 million Australians are iron deficient. Without adequate iron, the body can struggle to produce enough healthy red blood cells, which can result in reduced oxygen delivery and iron-deficiency anaemia causing symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, dizziness and shortness of breath. Results show that 35% of Australian women who are pregnant have anaemia, which is increased to 50% among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. Iron is a vital mineral that is crucial for supporting several bodily functions such as immune … [Read more...] about Importance of iron for our well-being

The importance of Muscle Mass in menopause

12/03/2025 By Penny Barron

Last year I drove all the way up to Woodford Queensland to volunteer in the homeopathy tent at the festival.  It was fantastic! But... half-way there, I had to stop for a bush-wee as I got a little caught short (‘scuse my directness, life’s too short to pussyfoot around for these things these days). That wasn’t a problem in itself. The problem I had was that back in the days when I did that kind of thing more often (ahem), I could crouch down and then get back up again no problem. This time, I got stuck. My legs were so weak, I couldn’t push myself back up to … [Read more...] about The importance of Muscle Mass in menopause

Insomnia and Homeopathy

sleepy-young-woman-with-wide-open-mouth

Homeopathy, Saviour of Sleep! Who doesn’t like a good nights sleep? Wrapped up all nice and cosy, especially on a cold winter’s night; it makes one’s eyelids feel all heavy just thinking about a beautiful, soft pillow and deliciously warm covers. But for those suffering from insomnia, often the mere thought of some shut-eye fills them with a sensation closer to dread. Many insomniacs liken their inability to sleep as torture. Lying for hours alone in the dark with nobody but your own thoughts for company can make time feel very long. There’s no escape, unless … [Read more...] about Insomnia and Homeopathy

Weight Loss and Glucose Management: It’s not just what we eat but how we eat

19/06/2024 By Sarah Saunders

I recently read a very interesting book, Glucose Revolution by Jessie Inchauspe, which explains glucose in detail, including sugar and fructose and how it is processed in the body. So often we focus on what and what not to eat, but it turns out that how we eat our food has a powerful effect on our glucose curves. Two meals consisting of the same foods can have vastly different impacts on our body depending on how their components are eaten.  (Cornell University in 2015 has scientific papers that proved this). When insulin levels have been high for a … [Read more...] about Weight Loss and Glucose Management: It’s not just what we eat but how we eat

Puberty Stages and Easing the Transition

06/05/2024 By Mel Owen-Browne Leave a Comment

bullying

Transition is a period of changing from one state or condition to another In our lives, we go through many different transitions, some we have no control over, and some we choose. The ones beyond our control can often be difficult, painful, and uncomfortable. Puberty is one such transition. It relates to my own family at this time. As mother of two teen girls and about to enter the menopause zone myself (another major life transition). I am all too aware of the challenges that lie ahead for our family. Teen acne and teenage mood swings to name just a few. What … [Read more...] about Puberty Stages and Easing the Transition

Discover the Power of Homeobotanicals

18/03/2024 By Sarah Saunders

“Homeobotanicals are not herbalism or homeopathy but are an extraordinary combination of the two healing disciplines which work on the physical and vibrational energies.” wellness-centre.co.uk What are homeobotanicals and how can they be used? Homeobotanicals were developed by naturopath and homeopath Brian Murray in the early 1980’s. Herbal tinctures were (and still are) very expensive, which encouraged Brian to produce a range of formulas which have evolved into a powerful, synergistic blend of organic herbal remedy combinations in liquid form. The remedies … [Read more...] about Discover the Power of Homeobotanicals

The joys of menopause and why progesterone is so important

18/02/2024 By Penny Barron

If you look around in the media, you might notice that articles on menopause have exploded recently.  It’s not like menopause is a new thing, and if you were to really think about how many women are suffering, it’s almost as though menopause could be an illness given the many and varied symptoms it seems to bring about. But is it really menopause causing all of these issues? Or are we blaming something which just happens to be removing a layer of protection that previously allowed us to “get away with” more potentially damaging behaviours in our past … [Read more...] about The joys of menopause and why progesterone is so important
